When it comes to tired eyes and racoon dark circles, sleep is actually the cure but also eating healthy and not smoking! Puffy eyes and dark circles can be also inherited or caused by stress, allergies, edema or an actually eye fatigue, sinus problems and too much salt in your diet. Most of these factors can not be addressed or improved fully by topical skincare treatments, and you might have to consult a doctor.
I personally don't like to cover my under-eye area with a thick layer of concealer and I prefer to treat this skin issue, to ease the appearance of darkness around my eyes and also to keep the skin under my eyes well moisturized.
There are a lot of skincare options out there and all you have to do is to find the right ones for you. Here are some of my favorite skincare products to address tired eyes and dark circles.
1.The Ordinary Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG - a lightweight serum that can help to improve the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. 1 drop is enough for both eyes, gently masage it around the orbital bone and follow up with an eye cream if you feel like you need extra moisture. Cruelty free and vegan.
2. Yummylicious Serum is eco friendly, pure, organic, all natural and made of the finest botanical ingredients, collagen and vitamins to put life back into your skin, excellent for people with dry/sensitive skin. Works excellent for the eye area- review for this serum here. Cruelty free.
3. Clinique All About Eyes - a lightweight eye cream with a cream -gel formula that targets puffs and under eye circles and can actually hold your eye makeup in place. Ophthalmologist tested.
4.The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Eye Mask - enriched with cucumber extract and plant stem cells will instantly give your eyes a powernap, used over night as a mask will moisturize, protect and restore your skin. This product helps to depuff by cooling down your skin, signs of fatigue will be reduced and the dark circles will fade. Ophthalmologist tested. Best to used chilled.Cruelty free.
5.Pixi DetoxifEYE Hydrogel Depuffing Eye Patches, they instantly reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles while moisturizing and soothing your skin. I keep them in the fridge and use it cold. I absolutely love using these eye patches, is fun and they really work ! A box has 30 pairs of eye patches and they are drenched in hydrogel. You can keep them on your skin for about 10 minutes and you don't need to wash it off. These eye patches have a lot of amazing ingredients: caffeine, hyaluronic acid, pine extract, cucumber extract, coconut fruit extract, aloe vera , chamomile extract and even niacinamide. Compared to other eye patches these are very gentle to your skin and you can walk around while wearing them because they won't fall out. Cruelty free.
6.Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Flawless Wear Concealer -transfer resistant, medium coverage, natural finish and a lightweight cream formula. It doesn't slip, melt or slide away. Infused with minerals and emollients to condition skin and make blending easy. Lasts for about 10 hours on my skin. No need to set it with powder. Ophthalmologist tested.
This is just what I need, thank you for sharing a new product I can try. I am so tired of those puffy eyes.
ReplyDeleteEllen,I hope this post was useful to you and no more puffy eyes from now on!Thanks for reading.
DeleteWe used to use cucumber, But after reading this, I thinkk i will try your way to see how it fairs.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, those times when we all used cucumber slices and tea bags.I am still doing that sometimes :)
DeleteI want to try these products! I have dark circles under my eyes, whether I get a good night's sleep or not. I look like a panda! Maybe these products will help make those dark circles disappear!
ReplyDeleteAlesandra,I hope they will! But remember that sometimes it can be genetic, and sadly we can not do much about it.
DeleteThat is interesting about using caffeine on your skin. Sounds like some good products to try. Now that I am in my 40's, I need to have a better skincare regimen.
ReplyDeleteCaffeine has a lot of skin benefits! Marysa, glad you are interested in a better skincare regiment, is never to late !
DeletePixi is such a great product. I've been using this even before and I can day that it was very effective. And it helps me so much.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you also like Pixi,I am a major fan of this cosmetic brand!
DeleteWat interessant en het ziet eruit als een goed product!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that too much salt in my diet can cause puffy eyes and dark circles.
ReplyDeleteThough I have to admit, mine do not look really good right now -- due to the lack of sleep, these tips are really helpful. Will check the Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Eye Mask.
This is why is called beauty sleep, hope you catch up with your sleep and get some rest!
DeleteGreat products to try. Also, the old fashioned way of ice pads or ice blocks wrapped in a towel lol. These, coupled with at least 8 hours of sleep, will also work wonders.
ReplyDeleteBecause of my sinus issues me and ice are not the best friends :)) but I love sleeping !
DeleteGreat Post. I'll definitely check out these products. Caffeine solution reminds me that applying coffee on eyelids work too
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked this post !
DeleteOh, those depuffing eye patches sound like I would need some of them soon. I have not been getting enough sleep and I have to do something about the way my eyes look!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had some rest, that always helps!
DeleteOh! i really need these. Lately I have been sleep deprived and whole day my eyes are puffy and i feel sad but I am sure with these tips, I could relax my eyes and skin. I love products from Bodyshop and would love to try Youth Bouncy Eye Mask.
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels, we really need to catch some sleep relax and rest more!
DeleteI usually have puffy eyes when I don't have enough sleep. It's really annoying to my run about with such eyes on days when I don't feel like using sunglasses. To know that there's are other solutions is just relieving.
ReplyDeleteAh, yesss wearing sun glasses helps to hide, such a brilliant idea !
DeleteI will have to try these products, however, if the dark circles are not addressed, I guess I have to see a doctor for it and go deeper to find out the reason for the puffiness and dark circles. I am thinking it may be because of a sinus problem.
ReplyDeleteI also have a sinus problem, best is to have it treated and not let bother you.Wishing you the best!
DeleteGreat post, I am always looking at my skincare and have to try some of these out x
